Founded in 1904, the ACCA is today the largest professional accountancy body in the UK and the largest to operate on an international basis. It has over 54,000 qualified members and 120,000 students working towards its qualifications in over 130 countries. Its range of qualifications means that it offers individuals at all levels the opportunity to work at the heart of business.

Chartered Certified Accountancy

Completing the ACCA professional qualification will equip you with an in-depth knowledge of accounting techniques and principles, management skills and IT which will enable you to work in any area of finance and bring many senior management roles within your reach.

ACCA offers you the opportunity to complete your course in as little as one or two years, or take up to ten years, should your personal circumstances or job mean you need to take a break from your studies. As with the Technician qualification, your training can be obtained prior to, during, or after studying for your examinations.

ACCA is unique as it also offers you the choice of following examinations based on International Accounting Standards (IASs), which, as they are relevant to international accounting and finance, give you a truly portable qualification which can take you anywhere in the world.

Registration

You must normally be 18 years of age and hold a minimum entry requirement of 2A Levels and 3GCSEs in 5 separate subjects, including English and Mathematics. BTEC National Certificate/Diploma, NVQ Level 3 and Advanced GNVQ are also acceptable for registration purposes (plus a range of international qualifications). Holders of higher qualifications may attract exemption from some of the ACCA professional examinations.

Mature Students

Alternatively, if you do not have the minimum qualifications and are 21 years of age or older, you can apply under the Mature Student Entry Route (MSER). This allows you to register as an external student of ACCA and you are given four consecutive examination attempts to complete papers 1.1 and 1.2 from ACCA's Foundation Stage. Upon successful completion, you will be transferred to the main student register and continue your ACCA examinations with paper 1.3 and Parts 2 and 3.
